Birth of Cirrata
The story of the Cirrata lamp is a long one and started in 2011 when designer Markus Johansson started to experiment with the material Corian.
– I was curious about what was possible to make out of the material that was new to me at the moment. Other designers that worked with Corian inspired me to search for even more complicated forms and shapes.
Markus explains that the shape was inspired from luminescent octopuses and that was also why the lamp got the name Cirrata.
After a long struggle to find a production partner that could mass-produce the lamp Oblure and Markus joined forces and will ship the first amazing lamps in 2016.
– Even if it all started as a play with the material Corian I am more than happy that the final product will be made of sturdy aluminum. I have perfectioned the shape and the lamp is just perfect with the high gloss finish.
